[glow=purple,2,300]RiLeY[/glow] [glow=purple,2,300] How far will I fall?[/glow] My paws feel as though they'll just melt into the ground. I hate it. A shiver, not from the air about me because it is incredibly hot, runs through my body. My shaggy coat feels like a terrible burden. The woods are quiet around me. I don't know whether to feel disappointed or not because of that. I could have caught something, maybe. No. Actually I don't think I could. A low whine starts in my throat. I'm so lonely I could talk to a tree! Well, okay, maybe not something so ridiculous as that. I've also found out the hard way that meeting dogs isn't always what you want out here. If you ever become a stray know that. Everyone is competition.

I could feel the sea beneath my paws, my tail wagging in the beautiful summer heat. The clouds passing slowly by, casting small puffy shadows on the soft sand behind me. Ahh, what a beautiful day. Something whined, and immediatly my eyes shot open. Dang, just a dream. A wonderful dream that I could have stayed in forever. I look around slowly with heavy eyelids, still drowsy from the deep sleep. I let out a soft 'woof' in reply, the fur on my back raising just alittle. Was it friend? Or foe? I stand up with abit of difficulty, my nubby little legs throbbing in reply. My nose tingled with the scent of another. yeah yeah nose, i heard 'em already... my mind pounded inside my skull, and I quickly fell to my side, then let out a whine of my own. Ow... God my head hurt..

[glow=purple,2,300]Riley[/glow] [glow=purple,2,300]Until you try...[/glow] My heart flew into my chest at the smallest woofing noise in the world. I whirled and felt a mixture of relief and wariness. He's just a little guy. I thought, but at the same time knew I could not underestimate any dog out here. Cautiously I wagged my tail. Not in the way of warning, and I made sure to let my fur lie flat. I did not wish to make the dog feel he had a reason to fight me. Then I realized he had fallen down. I was truly stupid, it could have been a trap set by a nasty pack of dogs, but I didn't care. I rushed to his side, "Are you alright?" My voice was dripping with worry. I suddenly realized my error but it was too late. I didn't think this dog set me up for ambush anyways. What was wrong with him?

I was literally choking. I was trying so hard not to laugh.
It all started when I went to find my breakfast that morning. I was stalking a vole through the undergrowth, the scent of the gum leaves rich and fragrant in my nose. I was concentrating on keeping the scent, when suddenly my prey sprinted away. Annoyed, I looked up, but there was no one there. Then I heard it. a low woofing. Raising one eyebrow in fascination, I tilted my head so I could better catch the sounds. Yes, I thought. Two dogs. Both males by the sound of it. I lowered myself until my belly was on the forest floor. I slowly crept forward. Then I saw it. A huge black, brown and white form. Twice my size at least. I froze with fear. By the looks of it, this dog could easily kill me will a single paw swipe. I shivered. Then I remembered. Hadn't I heard two dogs? I looked around in confusion. Then, finally I looked down. And there he was.
A tiny creme and white dog. My eyes widened in surprise, and I found myself choking back hysterical laughter. If this huge male wouldn't hurt this tiny dog, he surly would spare me! Right? Right. Before I could change my mind, I stepped into the clearing, well into the field of vision of both dogs. I cleared my throat. "Hello, I'm Indigo"

(lol, actually Riley's a girl. She's just named funny.) [glow=purple,2,300]Riley[/glow] [glow=purple,2,300]to catch me?[/glow] My amber eyes flashed with surprise. I couldn't help it, if there was anything I could be expecting it certainly wasn't for this dog to appear from nowhere. I looked at her, feeling wary but feeling relieved because she seemed very friendly. "Hello." I said, wondering if my female voice would surprise her a lot, "I'm Riley." I felt uncomfortable, I looked down at the little dog at my feet and felt a whine in my chest. Was he hurt? Could he breath? It seemed this Indigo dog was trying hard not to laugh too. I looked at her and down at the smaller dog again. I sighed and murmured, "What is it you do in these kinds of situations?"

I blinked. Stunned out of my laughing mood, my head started spinning. Right in front of me was the huge dog. But of two things I was wrong from before. Firstly, as I had first thought, this dog wasn't a male. She was in fact a female dog. And the second thing, was that she had not killed me yet.
Instead of killing me, she matter-of-factly said to me in a sweet voice, "Hello". I looked from her to the smaller dog. Who I now noticed looked like he was in pain. She looked at me, then back to the other dog again. The world stood still. Finally, after a long silence, I turned to the smaller creme and white dog. "Who are you?" I asked him.

I could hear voices. Ah, they sounded lovely. My eyelids fluttered, as one... er.... two others talked to eachother then turn and talk to me. I blinked, raising my head slightly. Dang, that hurt too. my legs trembled as I looked up to two beauts. Wow... angels? Did I die for some reason?
I opened my mouth, fealing words stuck inside my throat, so I just shook in reply, feeling to nervous and to much pain and soreness. If that was really a word. "H-hi?"

My eyes lit up when the little dog talked. Good, he was alright. He looked confused for a second, and then he seemed to regain his senses, muttering a nervous "H-hi?"
I smiled. "What's your name?" I asked the little brown and white dog.

"Bear." I looked at the dalmation, alittle shocked. Big dogs usually ment harm, but why hadn't they attacked yet? I looked up at the pretty Riley. Really... LOOKED up. Why was I cursed with such short stature?
I let out a quiet sigh, and stood up completely, though to them it probably looked like I was still laying down. I felt my left paw shake suddenly, and then stand still. My ear twitched, hoping Riley would talk. "What are your names Princessas?"
[ooc: er... Princessa is spanish for Princess, just plural. Its a cognate, so I think you probably could figure that out. I just wanted to make sure I didn't sound muy no intellegente
k... now i feel really dumb...]

This dog seemed to be greatly undeterred by his small size. "My name's Indigo" I told him, answering his question. I looked down at him. I almost grinned. So this tiny dog's name was Bear! fitting, I thought to myself. "So Bear, What are you doing so far out in the forest?" "I saw you fall down, are you alright?" I asked. [ God people, sorry for the two shortest posts in the world... What kind of admin am I? ^^ Hey Riley, post, she's being kinda quiet... I think this is the longest topic on the site now! WOOOO!!! Wow, k now i'm the looser ]

[glow=purple,2,300]Riley[/glow] [glow=purple,2,300]If ever I should fall[/glow] Riley's soft amber eyes glowed with relief as the dog got to his paws. She smiled, so happy that there was some animals around her that were willing to be friendly, "I'm Riley." She woofed, "I came here for a little bit of scrounging. I haven't found any food though. I'm starving." She stared at the two dogs, wishing she could stay friends with them. Maybe forever. "I'm glad I met some nice dogs, for the past few weeks I've gotten nothing but snarls and nips. It's nice to be able to...to talk."[/center] <Woofed? Woofed? ;D Sorry for the cruddy post.>

I nodded. "I-I dont know." I replied to Indigo, amazed at their names and their looks. Jees, I knew it isn't nice to stare. I looked over to Riley, "Same here. Try seeing everyones knees before their faces." I chuckled, stretching myself out, then rearing up, and sitting in a position where my head was atleast somewhere closer to their eye level. I felt bad having to make them crane their necks to look at me.
I was sitting like a human would, and my back was starting to ache more. This was alot to take in, two femmes talking to me, the worst part was, I didn't know who to answer first!

[glow=purple,2,300]Hold me close to you...[/glow] I swiveled my head so that I could look at the small dog. I smiled at him, and wagged my tail a bit. He really was sweet, and he seemed a bit dumbfounded by us. I wanted to share a glance with Indigo but refrained for fear of just staring at her neck for a moment. "Do you think you may have been tired Bear? It is pretty hot out, and not having eaten in awhile..." Mentioning the hot made me suddenly aware of the stifling weather. Even under the shade of the gum tree's I could feel the sun beating on me. My black pelt would absorb the heat like a sponge. I found myself shaking my fur and wishing for some water to splash in and cool down. "What I wouldn't give." I murmured, "For a good swim right now."

My stomach rumbled in reply. "Mmm, food." I whispered, then fell back down to all fours and shook my head. "Maybe." I said alittle louder this time, my eyes wondering suddenly to a sound no more than a few yards away.
Suddenly, I wondered if I could protect to girls bigger then me? So, I let out a loud bark, and the furs on my back raised stiffly. Well, I could atleast try! Maybe they'd think a small dog cute if he thought he was a big dog? Hehe...

The two dogs speaking of food suddenly made me realize just how long it had been since I had eaten. Food would be great right about now. As I was dreaming of food, there was suddenly a barley audible noise to my left. I stopped dreaming and turned my head towards the noise, all senses alert. A huge bark erupted behind me, causing me to look behind me. It was Bear, rigid with teeth bared and fur on end. So he had heard it too. It was too close for comfort, and suddenly I felt afraid. This was strange, I had always been able to defend and protect myself. I found myself backing up, and ended up standing behind the little corgi. I stood still, half ashamed that I was relying on another dog for my own safety, and half completely trusting that this dog that was only half her size, could protect her no matter what was in those bushes. She stood perfectly still. Waiting...
