maybe I'm the one
maybe I'm the one
who is a schizoprenic psychoStupid humans with their stupid ideas. Who really thought that petting a stray was safe? Obviously not that girl, who was walking away from me holding a bloody hand. I snarled at her for good measure, and she broke into a fast trot. Silly girl, I thought scornfully. I then returned to my preparation. I looked at myself in the water and readied myself. Finally, I jumped in and started to swim. Humans laughed and pointed, but they didn't know anything. Swimming helped me to focus on thinking. My mind was in conflict. What was more important, finding my father or starting my reign? After about ten minutes of swimming, my mind was made up. Starting the take over was way more important. I got out of the river and shook myself. One little girl screeched in delight as water sprayed her. "Mommy, can I have her! Please please please!" she cried. I barked and snarled at her, advancing slowly. The mother gasped and and pulled her daughter away. I glared at them and walked into an alley, sniffing out food.

What the hell was wrong with this dog!?! I stared slack jawed at the little human pup with blood gushing out of her paw. She hadn't even tried to bite that dog! And the big dog had bit her! This was insane. I started over to this strange dog, but she had already leaped into the water and was swimming away. I shivered in disgust. I hated water. It was so cold and dark and scary, ugh. I turned to the little pup who had had it's hand bitten. It was making strange gulping sounds and high yips. It hurt my ears to listen. I whined softly, flattening my ears and gave her my most sympathetic look.
She yipped and gulped harder, witch made me feel bad, and to make things worse, her mother threw a big chair at me, witch sent me stumbling and tripping right into the freezing river water. I yelped, but as I did, my lungs filled with water, and I went under.
Terror filled me, and I tried to paddle up, but distinguishing direction was not the easiest thing to do in this dark abyss. The cold water turned my blood to ice, and I could feel my heavy white coat starting to drag me down. Icy claws clutched my heart. I was going to drown.

I trotted out of the alley carrying a half-eaten hamburger. As I lay down near the shore, I heard a yip and a splash. I narrowed my eyes and saw that it was a white dog. Smirking, I bit into my hamburger and gobbled it up quickly. I then sat back and watched the show.
Just as I thought the dog wouldn't last any longer, a voice started talking to me. You know, you could save him, it said. Why should I? I snapped back. He could help you, it said knowingly. I sighed and got up. Only after a slight hesitation did I jump in.
I easily swam to the floundering mutt and grabbed him by his scruff. It was harder to swim with his weight, but I made it to shore. Weakling, I thought scornfully. I slung him over my back and trotted down the street and turned left. I reached my den and dropped him on a ragged blanket I had found. "Get up!" I growled while pushing on his chest, trying to expel the water.

The sides of my vision and consciousness were beginning to fade. I feebly beat the water with one paw, my desperate last effort to save myself. Suddenly, the water around me exploded. Strong jaws grabbed my scruff, and next thing I knew, I was being carried through the water by powerful paw strokes. To stunned to really do anything, I lay there and let her carry me. The water in my stomach and lungs was to much for me to bare. I lay there loosing consciousness, to weak to cough.
Suddenly, I was roughly thrown onto a shabby blanket. Paws began to push on my chest, forcing me to cough up the water I had swallowed. There I lay, coughing, and this strange dog ordered me to get up. Although my vision was still blurred, my sense of smell was still keen, and I picked up a familiar scent. It was the dog that bit that human pup! Why would she help me? I wondered. She had been so heartless with that human, and yet she helped me right when I needed it most! I squinted at the dog.
"Wha....-cough-...W...-cough-... What is your name?" I finally managed to gasp through my violent coughing. Then I looked at my paws, this dog had saved my life. "Thank you" I whispered. " You saved my life"

I looked scornfully at the dog as he staggered to his feet. How vunerable could you get? I almost laughed out loud as he tried to talk. When he finally talked, I glared at him. "Hybrid," I snapped. Oh great, now he was acting all grateful. "Don't mention it. Literally," I growled. I tipped over a nearby garbage can and buried my head in it. When I emerged, I had a pizza box in my mouth. I flipped it open. Just to my luck, there was two half-eaten pieces. "Eat," I said, and hungrily tore at my piece. "Name?" I asked, mouth full of cheese.

I wobbled on my feet, still a little woozy from my experience. She only glared at me. I blinked, confused. Why was she being like this? I wondered. I was snapped out of my thoughts when she turned and snapped an answer to my question.
"Hybrid". A Strange name... She walked over to a garbage can and tipped it over. She threw me a piece of pizza, gobbling down her's. "Eat" she commanded. And I did. Not until I smelt it's delicious cheesiness did I realize that I was ravenous. I ate mine in only a few bites. " Chase " I said, licking my maw and replying to her question. " So, how's it that you ended up on the streets? " I asked the stray.

I finished my piece long before the male did. As he gobbled it down, I heard a noise. I was alert for a few seconds, but relaxed. It was probably nothing.
When he asked me that question, I just stared at him. Finally, I spoke. "I didn't want to be a pet, so while my owners were away, I killed my mum and two brothers. Tore off the collar, ran away. Here I am," I said in a high tone, recalling the victory of leaving that home. "I am searching for my no-good excuse of a father. Do you, by chance, a Huskie named Shasta?" I growled. I heard the noise again, and this time I stood up and scanned the area. My eyes fell on a starved poodle mix. "I-I need food," she whined.
Instantly angered, I flew at her and pinned her down. "How dare you come here!" I spat, and sliced her throat. I carried the body outside of my den and threw her in the street. I then walked back to Chase as if nothing had happened. "And how did a charmer like yourself end up here?" I sneered.

"I'm so sorry" Was all I could manage to say in my stunned silence. Was this dog insane? I wondered. She asked me if I had heard of her father, a husky called Shasta. "N-No, I have never heard of him..." I told her. Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimmer of movement.
Hybrid got up. I laid my eyes upon an unbelievably skinny dog. Pity overwhelmed my heart as she whined " I-I need food". And all of a sudden, the unexpected happened. Hybrid flew at the dog and pinned her to the ground. I tried to tell her to leave the dog alone, but it came across as more of a startled choke. "How dare you come here!" I heard her growl angrily, and then to my horror, she sliced the dog's throat and I watched the life bleed out of the poor dog. When she was dead, Hybrid picked up her body and carried it outside the den.
She returned and looked at me casually, asking "And how did a charmer like yourself end up here?". For a moment, all I could do was stare at her in horrified silence. Then I regained my head. "I was born a stray, with a family of my own. I left my mother to explore the city on my own." I felt salty tears burning my eyes. I Brushed them away. " She's probably dead now anyways. I never had any other family. My father went missing when I was still a pup, and I haven't seen him since. " I looked at her. "The only thing I ever learned from my father was manners. He said that if we weren't all such horrible dogs, we would all have great lives. So that's how I live."

I listened to this dog's history with an interested look. When he finished, I sat up straighter and looked him in the eyes. "How are you so sure your father went missing? He might have run off because he was afraid of caring for pups," I said. Without waiting for an answer, I went on. "You never should have left your mother before you were strong enough. You were stupid for doing that," I barked. I got up and paced back and forth. Suddenly, I had an idea. "I can help you find your mother if you do something for me," I said, stopping and staring into his shocking blue eyes.

I looked at her,as she expressed her opinion on me leaving my mother. I flattened my ears in embarrassment. Hmmm, I thought to myself, perhaps she's right about me leaving my mother... For some reason she seemed to be angry, I couldn't imagine why. I tried to explain, but she kepton speaking, beginning to pace back and forth. I found myself watching her, and started to get dizzy. I stopped watching her, shaking my head to rid it of the dizziness, and looked her right in the eyes. Her beautiful eyes met mine, but her's sparkled with some devious knowing. Her eyessuddenly lit up and she spoke. "I can help you find your mother if you do something for me," I looked at her, my eyes flooded with suspicion. "What exactly did you have in mind...?" I replied.

I smirked at his meek expression when I mentioned his mother. Of course. My expression brightened when he hesitantly asked that question. "Oh, I'll think of something," I said, making my tone as light as I could manage. "Of course, you could always refuse. But I believe that you won't leave this place...unchanged," I said, growling. I sat down next to him and sweeped my tail over his back seductively. "I'll give you time to think it over, if you want," I purred in his ear.

I braced my shoulders and shuddered as her tail swept over my back. What did she mean...? I was confused, but also determined. "I don't need time to think." I told her, making up my mind. "I'll do whatever you want" I needed a little adventure in my life. What had I been doing in this little town all my life!? I should be out, exploring Australia... Did I trust this dog with my life? no. Did I trust her at all? no. So why was I doing this? ... But I wasn't about to back down now, so I looked up to meet her ice cold stare...

I grinned as I met his determined stare. "Very, very good, Chase," she whispered, and got up. "Now, my poor motherless mutt, tell me any details at all that you remember of your mother. Her smell, looks, voice, anything I can work with," I said, becoming business-like. I met his ice-cold eyes and made my golden eyes smolder his.
'C'mon give me something, you incredibly handsome dog,' I thought.

I swallowed hard, as the dog's words brought up painful memories from deep within him. "Uh..She was white, like me.... But she had darker spots, gray almost. One of her hears flopped down, and one stood up. Her eyes are the same color as....as....mine." He finished, staring at the ground." Is that enough?" I asked her. "She smells kind of like me, I guess because we're related, but her scent is more earthy than mine, because she tended to like spending time in the forest..."
Slowly I looked up at her with questioning eyes, and my heart dropped. Why did she want to know this?

I nodded. "Good boy," I purred. I stepped next to him and inhaled his scent. "Mhmm," I said as I tried to picture it smelling more like dirt. I stepped away then, and stared him down. "Now tell me, where is this woods that she likes to hang out in?" I asked, making a silent list in my head. So far: 1.White with grey spots 2.Blue eyes 3.Earthy smell 4.Floppy ears
But I still needed more. I needed all the information I could get to help this mutt.
